So You
Think You're a Christian?
FALSE JEW OR TRUE GENTILE?
So you think
you are a Christian? You love Jesus with all your heart, mind and soul. You
were born and raised in the most loving church in the country. You were
baptized, attend all the functions, even on the board of directors--Or, you
have said the sinners prayer, and renew your vows weekly at the alter call.
Yet, you still have problems you just can't overcome. You have prayed the
prayers of faith, received counseling from your pastor and every other
Christian you could find, still no victory. You have problems in
relationships, coping with life, and your children are extremely unruly.
WHY?
Maybe you are going to a church that fulfills Paul's writing to Timothy. 2
Timothy 3:1-7 "But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come:
For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud,
blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving,
unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good,
traitors, head-strong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn
away! For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives
of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, always
learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth."
Maybe all you have is a form of godliness, having denied the power of God. In
the Christian church of America we have over 20,000 denominations, or
theologies to take us to heaven. Yet Paul told the Corinthians this. 1
Corinthians 12:1-11 "Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want
you to be ignorant: You know that you were Gentiles, carried away to these
dumb idols, however you were led. Therefore I make known to you that no one
speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that
Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit. There are diversities of gifts, but
the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And
there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in
all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit
of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another
the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same
Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the
working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to
another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.
But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one
individually as He wills."
Jesus also told His disciples: John 14:22-31 "Judas (not Iscariot) said to
Him, "Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the
world?" Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My
word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home
with him. "He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which
you hear is not Mine but the Father's who sent Me. "These things I have spoken
to you while being present with you. "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom
the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to
your remembrance all things that I said to you. "Peace I leave with you, My
peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your
heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. "You have heard Me say to you, 'I
am going away and coming back to you.' If you loved Me, you would rejoice
because I said, 'I am going to the Father,' for My Father is greater than I.
"And now I have told you before it comes, that when it does come to pass, you
may believe. "I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world
is coming, and he has nothing in Me. "But that the world may know that I love
the Father, and as the Father gave Me commandment, so I do. Arise, let us go
from here."
Jesus also said that the Christian walk was not a prayer or a thought process,
but a lifestyle of obedience to a doctrine. John 8:31-32 "Then Jesus said to
those Jews who believed Him, "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples
indeed. "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
All of you are seeking deliverance. That is the process of salvation,
deliverance from eternal death to eternal life. Yet, through our walk in the
modern day churches, we find sexual immorality, perversion, and abuses of the
most heinous kinds.
It isn't too surprising that the churches have lost the way to salvation.
Paul's writings all show the problems the early church was wrought with. The
Jewish converts insisted that the Gentiles become circumcised. Genesis 17:9-14
"And God said to Abraham: "As for you, you shall keep My covenant, you and
your descendants after you throughout their generations. "This is My covenant
which you shall keep, between Me and you and your descendants after you: Every
male child among you shall be circumcised; "and you shall be circumcised in
the flesh of your foreskins, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between Me
and you. "He who is eight days old among you shall be circumcised, every male
child in your generations, he who is born in your house or bought with money
from any foreigner who is not your descendant. "He who is born in your house
and he who is bought with your money must be circumcised, and My covenant
shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant. "And the uncircumcised
male child, who is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin, that person
shall be cut off from his people; he has broken My covenant."
Paul fought this idea: Gal 4:21-31 "Tell me, you who desire to be under the
law, do you not hear the law? For it is written that Abraham had two sons: the
one by a bondwoman, the other by a freewoman. But he who was of the bondwoman
was born according to the flesh, and he of the freewoman through promise,
which things are symbolic. For these are the two covenants: the one from Mount
Sinai which gives birth to bondage, which is Hagar; for this Hagar is Mount
Sinai in Arabia, and corresponds to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage
with her children; but the Jerusalem above is free, which is the mother of us
all. For it is written: "Rejoice, O barren, You who do not bear! Break forth
and shout, You who are not in labor! For the desolate has many more children
Than she who has a husband." Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are children of
promise. But, as he who was born according to the flesh then persecuted him
who was born according to the Spirit, even so it is now. Nevertheless what
does the Scripture say? "Cast out the bondwoman and her son, for the son of
the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman." So then,
brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman but of the free."
Gal 5:1-3 "Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us
free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. Indeed I, Paul,
say to you that if you become circumcised, Christ will profit you nothing. And
I testify again to every man who becomes circumcised that he is a debtor to
keep the whole law."
Yet eighty percent of American males have become circumcised. We have changed
a covenant of God with the Jewish people, to a covenant of proper hygiene. But
where did this teaching come from? The Judaizers? I think not: Gal 2:1-16
"Then after fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, and
also took Titus with me. And I went up by revelation, and communicated to them
that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to those who were
of reputation, lest by any means I might run, or had run, in vain. Yet not
even Titus who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised.
And this occurred because of false brethren secretly brought in (who came in
by stealth to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they
might bring us into bondage), to whom we did not yield submission even for an
hour, that the truth of the gospel might continue with you. But from those who
seemed to be something; whatever they were, it makes no difference to me; God
shows personal favoritism to no man; for those who seemed to be something
added nothing to me. But on the contrary, when they saw that the gospel for
the uncircumcised had been committed to me, as the gospel for the circumcised
was to Peter (for He who worked effectively in Peter for the apostleship to
the circumcised also worked effectively in me toward the Gentiles), and when
James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that
had been given to me, they gave me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship,
that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised. They desired
only that we should remember the poor, the very thing which I also was eager
to do. Now when Peter had come to Antioch, I withstood him to his face,
because he was to be blamed; for before certain men came from James, he would
eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he withdrew and separated himself,
fearing those who were of the circumcision. And the rest of the Jews also
played the hypocrite with him, so that even Barnabas was carried away with
their hypocrisy. But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the
truth of the gospel, I said to Peter before them all, "If you, being a Jew,
live in the manner of Gentiles and not as the Jews, why do you compel Gentiles
to live as Jews? "We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles,
"knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in
Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be
justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works
of the law no flesh shall be justified."
We have the teaching concerning a god of new beginnings. That every morning
when we get up, it is a new day. That we can sin over and over, God will
continuously forgive. Yet, the writer of the book of Hebrews said this:
Hebrews 6:1-8 "Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles
of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of
repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, of the doctrine of
baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal
judgment. And this we will do if God permits. For it is impossible for those
who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become
partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the
powers of the age to come, if they fall away, to renew them again to
repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put
Him to an open shame. For the earth which drinks in the rain that often comes
upon it, and bears herbs useful for those by whom it is cultivated, receives
blessing from God; but if it bears thorns and briars, it is rejected and near
to being cursed, whose end is to be burned."
We see the teachings of healing, ministries of healing, touting god's word
throughout the land. We find great testimonies of god's will being made
manifest, yet, James said this: James 5:13-17 "Is anyone among you suffering?
Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. Is anyone among you
sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him,
anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will
save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins,
he will be forgiven. Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one
another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous
man avails much. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed
earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three
years and six months."
We find prayer and annointing for salvation of the sick, not a prayer of
healing for the sick. Sin seems to be the issue here. Yet, are we not only
human? After all John said this: 1 John 1:8-10 "If we say that we have no sin,
we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He
is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all
unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and
His word is not in us."
Yet John also said this: 1 John 2:3-6 " Now by this we know that we know Him,
if we keep His commandments. He who says, "I know Him," and does not keep His
commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His
word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are
in Him. He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He
walked."
1 John 2:15-17 "Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone
loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the
world; the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life; is
not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the
lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever."
1 John 3:1-12 "Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that
we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us,
because it did not know Him. Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has
not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed,
we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this
hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure. Whoever commits sin also
commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. And you know that He was
manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin. Whoever abides
in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him. Little
children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous,
just as He is righteous. He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned
from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He
might destroy the works of the devil. Whoever has been born of God does not
sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born
of God. In this the children of God and the children of the devil are
manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who
does not love his brother. For this is the message that you heard from the
beginning, that we should love one another, not as Cain who was of the wicked
one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his works
were evil and his brother’s righteous."
Is John contradicting himself? Can we truly trust Paul’s writing? For he
states: 2 Thessalonians 1:3-12 "We are bound to thank God always for you,
brethren, as it is fitting, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love
of every one of you all abounds toward each other, so that we ourselves boast
of you among the churches of God for your patience and faith in all our
persecutions and tribulations that you endure, which is manifest evidence of
the righteous judgment of God, that you may be counted worthy of the kingdom
of God, for which you also suffer; since it is a righteous thing with God to
repay with tribulation those who trouble you, and to give you who are trouble
rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty
angels, in flaming fire taking
vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the
gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. These shall be punished with everlasting
destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power,
when He comes, in that Day, to be glorified in His saints and to be admired
among all those who believe, because our testimony among you was believed.
Therefore we also pray always for you that our God would count you worthy of
this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of His goodness and the work
of faith with power, that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ my be glorified in
you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus
Christ."
2 Thessalonians 2:13-17 "But we are bound to give thanks to God always for
you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you
for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth, to
which He called you by our gospel, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord
Jesus Christ. Therefore, brethren, stand fast and hold the traditions which
you were taught, whether by word or our epistle. Now may our Lord Jesus Christ
Himself, and our God and Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting
consolation and good hope by grace, comfort your hearts and establish you in
every good word and work."
2 Thessalonians 3:6 "But we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord
Jesus Christ, that you withdraw from every brother who walks disorderly and
not according to the tradition which he received from us."
God decided, from the very beginning, that obedience to His doctrine would set
up the beginning of your deliverance, allowing the power of the Holy Spirit to
sanctify you, cleanse you, heal you, bringing you to the true discipleship of
Jesus Christ.
Maybe Paul was justified then, in his writing on the proper road to salvation.
1 Corinthians 2 "And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with
excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. For I
determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him
crucified. I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. And my
speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in
demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the
wisdom of men but in the power of God. However, we speak wisdom among those
who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age,
who are coming to nothing. But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the
hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory, which none of
the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified
the Lord of glory. But as it is written: "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor
have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those
who love Him." But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the
Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. For what man knows
the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no
one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received,
not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might
know the things that have been freely given to us by God. These things we also
speak, not in words which man's wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit
teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man does
not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him;
nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he who is
spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one. For
"who has known the mind of the LORD that he may instruct Him?" But we have the
mind of Christ."
First comes discipline to change our lifestyle, we shed the spirit of the
world, take on the Spirit of God, which gives us the mind of Christ. Its No
wonder that of all the tens of thousands I have prayed deliverance for, they
were cleansed, but never healed. Jesus states: Luke 17:11-19 "Now it happened
as He went to Jerusalem that He passed through the midst of Samaria and
Galilee. Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were
lepers, who stood afar off. And they lifted up their voices and said, "Jesus,
Master, have mercy on us!" So when He saw them, He said to them, "Go, show
yourselves to the priests." And so it was that as they went, they were
cleansed. And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with
a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him
thanks. And he was a Samaritan. So Jesus answered and said, "Were there not
ten cleansed? But where are the nine? "Were there not any found who returned
to give glory to God except this foreigner?" And He said to him, "Arise , go
your way. Your faith has made you well."
Then Paul's writing to the Thessalonians: 2 Th 2:1-12 Now, brethren,
concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to
Him, we ask you, not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit
or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come.
Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the
falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of
perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that
is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself
that he is God. Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you
these things? And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in
his own time. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who
now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. And then the
lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of
His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming. The coming of the
lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and
lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish,
because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should
believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth
but had pleasure in unrighteousness."
This shows but one thing-YOU ARE AN UNBELIEVER, YOU ARE THE MAN OF PERDITION
THAT THE CHURCH IS WAITING FOR. Paul writes to Titus: Titus 1:15-16 "To the
pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing
is pure; but even their mind and conscience are defiled. They profess to know
God, but in works they deny Him, being abominable, disobedient, and
disqualified for every good work."
Abortions, Aids, Sexual immorality, sickness is not the problem, they are but
the fruit of a group of people, calling themselves "Christians" having a form
of religion that does not allow the power of God to bring them to a changed
life.
Romans 1:18-32 "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all
ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in
unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God
has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible
attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made,
even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because,
although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful,
but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the
incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man; and birds and
four-footed animals and creeping things. Therefore God also gave them up to
uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among
themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and
served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For
this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged
the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the
natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men
committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their
error which was due. And even as they did not like to retain God in their
knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are
not fitting; being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality,
wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit,
evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, violent,
proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; who, knowing
the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are
deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who
practice them."
You deserve death! The countries leaders, living with a questionable life of
sexual immorality, professing homosexuality is okay, yet, you call them
christian.
We see the God of caring, and forgiveness, in the Gospels. We see the people
rejecting this God throughout all the Epistles, bringing on the God of
Righteousness, of wrath, in these last days. And all deliverance has done for
you is pave the way to hell for you. Just as Moses brought his people out of
Egypt to the promised land, they could not enter because of unbelief. You will
not be allowed to enter, because you went back to the very theology that
caused the abuse in the beginning.
Revelation 21:8 "But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers,
sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in
the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death."
